KaaChik is a social mobile app that has the objective of helping photographers, amateurs or professionals, to develop and learn with each other in community.
My objective with this project is to show what I learned during my User Experience/User Interface Design Course from IEFP, 4 month duration course, in a time limit of 6 days. During these days I had to finish all the phases from the UX/UI Design Thinking Process.
This phase was all about knowing what the project was all about. Understand the target and the product goals with the target in vision.
To feel and understand better the target I created personas, fictional people, to help visualize better who I was designing for.
In total, 3 personas were created with different needs and goals.
With this I could create a better product to satisfy and solve the target's problems.
I searched and researched some similar existing apps. Namely, Flickr, 500px and Plates.
These apps focused in featuring our work by exposing it, compare it to other users using statistics. They also have short content visualization known as stories in social networks.
Overall, they didn't have the learning and educational side of the app I was designing.
After the research, I created the Personas, fictional people that will be the target audience I will have to keep in mind in order to be able to understand and know their specific needs to create creative solutions.
The User scenarios were a very important part of this phase because it gave me a stronger idea of the problems. A more story-like visualization to keep in mind the target audience.
The Sitemap helped decide how to structure the App and Webpage. It is, what page was linked to and it also helped deciding if there were too many pages or not, avoiding making the experience painful for the user to reach its objective.
During this phase I focused on sketching (Storyboard) my ideas in the paper to see if it was possible or viable to bring those ideas to the next phase.
The 5th phase was constantly done between phases to make sure everything was according to what was planned and, in the end, there was a bigger test where the users would freely navigate the app and share their opinions. Concluding, the app was usable and functional for the target audience and they showed interest in the app. Since this was a 6 day challenge, there were many things I couldn't bring to the project, many possible functionalities, and ideas, but it was a very interesting challenge.
